Why Am I Here?

Knowing Jesus Christ Personally

Have you ever wondered as you look around, “Is this all there is to life?”  Or have you wondered “Why am I here anyway?”  We all wonder at times what is our meaning and purpose.  We have a deep desire to know that life matters, that what we are doing matters and most importantly of all, that we matter!

We, here at Alive in Christ Ministries, would like you to know that life has meaning and purpose and that you matter very much.  You are very important.  The answers to life are found in the person of Jesus Christ and in having a relationship with Him.  In John 3:16, God tells us that He loved the world, all the people , so much that He gave His Only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross so that people could have a relationship with God (living with Him everyday) and one day go to heaven to be with Him forever.

God created us (Genesis 1-3) for Himself.  He loved us and desired us for Himself, but then Satan came into the picture and tried to ruin everything.  Satan hates God and wants to be better than God (Isaiah 14:12-15).  So God had to kick him out of heaven with all the other fallen angels who rebelled against God.  God sent them to hell, the place created for the devil and all the fallen angels.

Now, the only way that Satan can get back at God is to hurt us, His creation, the people He loves.  Satan tempted Eve who talked Adam into rebelling against God along with her and this caused sin and disobedience to enter into the human race.  As a result of this rebellion, every person is born in sin, separated from God.  Since God is holy and cannot tolerate sin, man was doomed to eternal death.  Man needed salvation from his destiny - hell.  Man could not save himself, so God planned to restore man to His original purpose.  God’s original purpose was to enjoy relationship with man forever and this it still His desire.

Because God loves us so much (John 3:16) and could not bear to see us perish eternally in hell, He made a way of escape.  God is righteous and punishment for sin must be given to satisfy His wrath against sin.  Therefore, God sent His Son, Jesus to die in the place of you and me.  Imagine how hard this must have been for the heart of God.  He knowingly and willingly gave up the life of His Son to die the most horrible, humiliating death on a cross (read Philippians 2:6-11).  God did this because He does not want anyone to die.  He wants all people to repent (2 Peter 3:9) and know freedom and forgiveness of sin.

When we realize that we were born in a sinful condition and we own the fact that we are sinners, we can find forgiveness, unconditional love and total acceptance in Christ.  For the Bible tells us in Romans 3:23, “All have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.”  We need to receive Jesus as our Savior.  Then, as we accept His death on the cross as His dying in our place - we realize that when He died, we died, that is our self-life died.  And that when Jesus resurrected from the grave, we were resurrected with Him in our spirits so that we are now free from living in bondage to sin (Romans 7 and 8).  2 Corinthians 5:17 says that when we accept Christ as our Savior, we are new creations in Christ and that our old ways are gone and everything has become new!

When we believe Jesus died on the cross for our sins (and our sinful condition) and ask His forgiveness, then He comes into our lives and lives in us.  Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  the life I live n the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”  Jesus Christ becomes our Lord and He enables us to live this new life.  The Holy Spirit of God comes into our lives and enables us to live in Jesus Christ.  Ephesians 1:13,14 tells us that the Holy Spirit is our mark and our seal, “Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance...”

Now, we are children of God, not of Satan, and we pass from death to life in Jesus.  Our hearts come alive in Christ - where before your heart was dead in sin.   Ephesians 2:4,5 “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved.”

You see, when we receive Jesus into our lives and we place our faith into Him, “then God raises you up with Christ and seats you with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus”  Ephesians 2:6.  “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast” Ephesians 2:8,9.  You and I cannot do anything to get to heaven.  Heaven is not earned or deserved by us.  We cannot work hard to get to heaven, or ever be good enough to go to heaven.  Heaven is a FREE GIFT to those of us who believe in Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection from the grave.  Jesus Christ is the only way to God and heaven.  Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”  Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” John 14:6.

If you are searching for meaning in life it is found in knowing Jesus and receiving Him into your life.  If you are wondering why you are here and who cares, your identity is found in Jesus and knowing He loves you and He says you are His dearly loved child.  1 Corinthians 6:19,20 “You are not your own; you were bought with a price.”

Matthew 20:28 says that Jesus came to earth “to give His life a ransom for many.”
Galatians 4:4-7 tells us that we are redeemed, given freedom from slavery to sin.  Christ came  to redeem those under the law, that we might receive full rights as sons and daughters of God.  The Spirit of God’s Son came into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, Abba, Father.  So you are no longer a slave but a son or daughter and God has made us to be His heirs.  We receive the full rights of God’s children because Jesus died for us.  Jesus’ blood was shed so that we might have forgiveness of sins because “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins” Hebrews 9:22.

So, if you are ready to really start living and you want to receive Jesus into your life, you can, right this minute.  God loves you and He wants you.  Romans 10:9,10 “If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him, Jesus, from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified (made right with God) and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”  When you ask Jesus into your life, You will be sealed with the Holy Spirit.  1 John 5:11,12  “And this is the testimony:  God has given us eternal life and this life is in His Son.  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”

When you place your faith in Christ and believe and confess with your mouth that Jesus died for you, you are His child.  You are saved.  You are forgiven from all your sins.  “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” Psalms 103:12.  Your sins are forgiven, they are not held against us.  Jesus took our punishment.  He is your hero and because of Him, you are presented to God “without fault, blameless and holy in God’s sight” Ephesians 1:4.

When you decide to ask Jesus into your life and let Him have the control over your life, then you must find a good Bible believing, preaching, teaching church so that you can grow in your faith and walk with God.  You need to learn.  Your spiritual heart needs to grow and your faith needs to deepen into Christ.

You must also read the Word of God daily and pray.  Start with the book of John and then read the rest of the gospels, Matthew, Mark and Luke.  Read Ephesians, especially the first chapter to find out who you are in Christ and all that belongs to you now as a child of God.  Read the Bible and never stop for it is God’s love letter to you.  Hear Him tell you He loves you.  He wrote His Word to protect you and keep you in the right direction on your journey.  God reveals Himself, His will to all His childen through His Word, the Bible.  You need to pray and read the Bible just like you need food to eat for your physical body.  You need the church because each one of us needs the fellowship of other people who know Jesus.  “Let us not give up meeting together...”  Hebrews 10:25.

It is our hope and prayer that you have asked Jesus Christ into your life so that you may have a relationship with God everyday and one day go to be with Him in heaven.  Rely upon God and know that you are not alone.  You will have hardships, trials and temptations in life, but know that Jesus is with you and you have the Holy Spirit living inside you.  He will direct your paths.

Jesus Christ has promised to return for us one day and He always does what He promises!
So, stay alive, keep your heart alive in Him for He has told us, “I will be back to get you.”

Listen to Jesus’ words in John 14:1-3:   “Do not let your heart by troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.  If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”

May you receive Jesus Christ into your life today!
